Get to Know Christian: A Navy Veteran and IT Professional

Christian S. is a Navy veteran who works in cybersecurity at a private college in Florida. After serving, he used the G.I. Bill to go to school in a field he enjoys and is passionate about.

But while he is proud of how his new career has moved forward, credit card debt from his time in the military followed him into his civilian life.

Luckily, a call with an Accredited Debt Relief Consolidation Specialist put him on a path to getting his debt under control for good. Now, he encourages other veterans who relate to his story to reach out for help like he did.

“I would tell somebody in the military who’s struggling with debt that they should get on the phone with these folks to see if there’s any way that they can help.”

Chrisitian Coped With Work Stress Through Spending

Being on active duty took a toll and Christian share with us that his military life was emotionally intense and spending became one of his coping tools.

“The military is a high stress job. Nobody knows that better than me. And one of the ways I would cope with the stress is I’d see this nice thing I’d really want but if there’s an opportunity to finance it I might go for it. [I was] not understanding what it means to have a credit card.”

Over time, that stress spending turned into a pattern that followed into college. He’d cope with stress by rewarding himself with something he wanted. By graduation, Christian had about $10,000 in credit card debt spread across multiple accounts and he had even started to use his cards as income without fully grasping the future consequences.

The Moment He Knew Things Had to Change

By late 2023, Christian was spending more than $350 a month just trying to keep up with minimum payments. He knew that if nothing changed, the debt would keep growing.

Then, while scrolling through Facebook, he spotted an ad for Accredited Debt Relief. Instead of ignoring it, he made the call.

“The Consolidation Specialist that I spoke to made me feel I was doing the right thing. They were friendly and really cared about my situation.”

A Phone Call That Changed His Outlook

Christian didn’t know what to expect when he reached out. But the experience of speaking to a real person — someone who listened without judgment — made all the difference.

His specialist explained how the program worked, answered his questions, and helped him feel confident that he wasn’t stuck.

Within a few days, Christian enrolled. His monthly payment dropped, and he finally had a clear plan for paying down what he owed.

Why He Says “Just Make the Call”

Christian’s message to other veterans is simple: don’t wait. He knows that when you’re carrying financial stress, picking up the phone can feel really hard. But for him, it was the first real step toward peace of mind.

“I would tell somebody who was in the military who was struggling with debt that they should get on the phone with these folks to see if there’s any way that they can help.”

Looking Ahead With Confidence

Today, Christian isn’t weighed down by debt. He’s making consistent progress and has shifted his focus to building savings and planning for the future — a home, a new car, maybe more. And he’s no longer using credit cards as income.
